BuzzLine – Week 10 – Brand Woes & Ho-Hos

The BuzzLine would like to thank our fearless summer intern, account coordinator Tommy McPhail, for today’s guest post! Thank you, Tommy!

Another week, another winner! A jubilant shout-out to Joanna Leis for her illustrious six-word description of a beautiful place. While you’re dreaming of paradise, have a heavenly Frappuccino on us (before their prices go up in July)! Check out all the Week 9 responses here.

Fair warning: if you haven’t had lunch yet, BuzzLine Week 10 is bound to send you straight into salivation mode.

via Flickr user Christian CableIn a move that’s been billed “the sweetest comeback in the history of ever,” Hostess announced that July 15th will mark the return of Twinkies, Ho-Hos and Ding Dongs to store shelves. The surprise comes courtesy of Metropoulos & Co. and Apollo Global Management, which acquired Hostess last year after the latter filed for bankruptcy.

However, the REAL question here remains unanswered – will Twinkies develop the Coke Classic-esque buzz that redeemed the brand, or will it blunder to Crystal Pepsi proportions? Fan favorites are biting the bullet more than ever, which is why we want you to buzz off on this:

In six words, tell us which discontinued brand needs to make a triumphant comeback and why.

Waffle Crisp? HD-DVD? Kodachrome? Let the sweet scent of reminiscence wash over you… then unleash it in the comments section! In the words of Mad Men’s Don Draper (as NPR recently reminded us), “Nostalgia: it’s delicate, but potent.”

Though we’d love to put a fresh box of Twinkies in your hands, the author of the most clever entry will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card. Nothing like a latte to wash down that celebratory soon-to-come snack cake!
