Telling the Story of Minnesota's Headquarters Economy

Minnesota Business Partnership (MBP), a group representing the 100 largest employers in Minnesota, hosted an event to kick off Medtronic CEO Geoff Martha’s position as the incoming chair and celebrate the first remote NYSE bellringing in the state. MBP engaged Padilla to create the event’s story arc and content, including CEO remarks, to inspire and motivate leaders to take action to continue growing Minnesota’s economy.
Insight
MBP partnered with Dr. Myles Shaver from the University of Minnesota on research that showcases Minnesota as America’s Headquarters Economy. Minnesota is home to 17 Fortune 500 Company headquarters and hundreds of “hidden headquarters.” The event needed to tell the story of the Headquarters Economy and what makes Minnesota such a quality place to live, work and grow.
Idea
Padilla developed a story arc for the event that articulated the story of the Headquarters Economy’s historic beginnings, what makes it so strong today, and the innovation, collaboration and action needed to continue the momentum into the future to maintain Minnesota’s position as America’s Headquarters Economy.
Impact
The event convened 30+ CEOs and 100+ senior leaders from the top companies in the state, featuring 20+ CEOs on-stage for the NYSE remote bellringing, and 10 CEO voices on the mainstage bringing the story arc to life. The MBP received glowing reviews and attendees left inspired to tell the Headquarters Economy story.
