Nutrition Influencer Insights: Q&A With UpwaRD Winner Huma Chaudhry, RD, LDN

The FoodMinds upwaRD program is an industry-leading professional recognition and development program, elevating the voices of emerging nutrition communication leaders. This year’s winners were selected for their expertise in translating evidence-based nutrition recommendations into exciting, engaging and accessible content in both traditional and social media channels.

Today, we hear from Huma Chaudhry, RD, LDN – nutrition blogger and one of the 2021 upwaRD winners!

1. What kinds of messages are you passionate about sharing?

As an RD, I love to educate others about how delicious and nutritious can exist on the same plate. It is my passion to provide digestible nutrition tips, flavor-filled recipes, and infographics that help individuals make informed food choices that are also enjoyable. Along with this message, I like to educate individuals on how food choices can be customized to fit their own cultural, personal, and financial needs/preferences. These messages can really encourage a positive relationship with food and help people build sustainable food choices that align with their lifestyle.

2. What’s the nutrition question you hear most often from your clients or followers?

Juggling multiple priorities is a norm especially in today’s world which is why I often get questions about how to simplify healthy eating for a busy lifestyle. To help all the busy bees out there, a lot of my content focuses on time-saving meal prep hacks, quick recipe ideas, and convenient grocery staples to stock up on. Through my monthly E-newsletters, you can find exclusive freebie resources like no-cook recipes and guides to make healthy eating manageable while living a busy life.

3. When you create your content, what personal rules or values help guide you?

I value nutrition content that honors diversity, evidence-based nutrition as well as food and body positivity. Whether I am creating blog posts, recipes, or infographics, I always want the information to reflect what I value as a dietitian. I also like to take into consideration what my target audience values to create content that is engaging and relatable.

4. What types of brands or organizations do you get excited about working with?

I love working with like-minded food brands that focus on making healthy eating accessible, sustainable, and convenient. For example, I love recommending products like portable plant-based snacks to busy individuals looking for grab-and-go staples. I appreciate brands that collaborate with dietitians to convey evidence-based messages about how their products can be beneficial for health. Dietitians can play a significant role in helping brands create a trustworthy relationship with wellness-oriented consumers.
